When system fails 'Ajji' stands for justice: Movie Review

Ajji (Granny)

Cast: Sushama Deshpande, Abhishek Banerjee, Sharvani Suryavanshi

Director: Devashish Makhija

Genre: Revenge Drama

Rating: 4/5

Devashish Makhija’s Ajji is not here to preach about child rape not it's endorsing any kind of criminal activity. It just shows the emotion & reaction of Ajii or Granny of Manda  (Sharvani Suryavanshi), when she discovers that an innocent school going Manda has been raped by culprit (Abhishek Banerjee) a son of a local politician.

The movie has many sequences which disturb the audience with visuals & emotions on screen, which is actually needed for a film like this. This movie makes you angry every time you see the little girl crying with pain, the audience starts to root for Ajji without any political correctness.

Ajji is dark slow paced but doesn't make you lose interest for even a moment, the best part of this drama is at no point in time it looks fake or over the top. Every single actor which appears on screen looks convincing in their character & leaves a mark. (Sushama Deshpande) has played a really bold & strong character which breaks all the barrier for conventional female actors.

This one of those movies which will keep you in the zone after the movie ends & you keep recollecting the sequence you saw on screen.

Ajji is a highly recommended movie of this year and one should not miss it watching on big screen. Running in cinemas now
