Hansal Mehta’s Omerta screened at TIFF 2017
Hansal Mehta's Omerta was screened at this year's Toronto International Film Festival and has received an overwhelming response from the audience and critics. Rajkumar Rao and Hansal Mehta shared their happiness on social media accounts.
Hansal Mehta started planning the film several years ago, producers changed during these years, before it finally came together. Mehta made it clear the film was not about making people comfortable: “Global audiences need to be provoked, need to respond to the film.”
Omerta is the story of infamous British-born terrorist Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh. He is known as the man responsible for the 2002 kidnapping and murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl. The film’s release will be announced soon.
